Cortesi Gallery was founded in 2013 by the Cortesi family, specializing in European artistic movements from the 1960s to the present day. The gallery stages shows with contemporary relevance, drawing on specialist expertise from curators, researchers, artists’ archives and foundations. The first gallery space in Lugano opened to the public with the exhibition ‘Italian Art 1960s–1990s’ in 2013. In May 2015, the gallery expanded, inaugurating a new space in Mayfair in London with a group show dedicated to the ZERO group. From 2013 to 2016 the exhibitions held reflected the gallery’s expertise with major presentations featuring the ZERO group, new tendencies, optical, kinetic, conceptual and minimal art. In 2018, Cortesi Gallery Milan created a comprehensive retrospective of Gianfranco Pardi’s work, 85 years after the artist’s birth. Cortesi Gallery London inaugurated the autumn season with the first solo exhibition devoted to the Nul Group founder Jan Henderikse while the Milan space staged an exceptional solo show on the Dutch artist Herman De Vries. In 2019, Cortesi Gallery presented four major retrospective on the peruvian artist Jorge Eielson, the venitian Giuseppe Santoamso (London), Ivan Picelj and Heinz Mack (Milan).
