This quite unique work of art consists of two large paintings executed in two different work periods by Simon HantaÏ.

'L'Etude rouge et noire' is an oil on canvas realized in 1969.
The opposite side 'Blancs' shows a painting which belongs to the 'Blancs' series and which was executed in acrylic on canvas four years later, in 1973.

This doubled-sided work shall be included into the upcoming catalogue raisonné of the artist in preparation by the Archives Simon Hantaï.
