ABOUT

Founded in 1969 by Kiyoshi Taménaga in Tokyo, the gallery soon opened two additional spaces in Osaka and Paris in 1971, in order to welcome collectors and art lovers from all over the world. The Taménaga Gallery was then the first gallery dedicated to Western art in Japan; it has since specialized in Impressionist, modern and contemporary paintings, and as such has in its collection masterpieces by masters such as Cézanne, Renoir, Redon, Rouault, Van Dongen, Dufy, Picasso, Klee and Chagall. Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019, Galerie Taménaga is now one of the major proponents of the current Asian art scene. In recent years, it has chosen to devote an ever-growing place to talented and promising contemporary artists, mainly of Chinese and Japanese origin, such as Chen Jiang-Hong, Takehi ko Sugawara, Kyosuke Tchinaï, Tamihito Yoshikawa and Kengo Nakamura, but also to Westerners such as the American Tom Christopher and the Spaniard Lorenzo Fernandez. Galerie Taménaga's recurrent participation in numerous fairs throughout the world and the exhibitions it organizes in its three spaces have confirmed its top position in the international gallery scene for several decades.
