ABOUT

Founded in 1969 by Kiyoshi Taménaga in Tokyo, the Galerie Taménaga successively opened up two additional venues in Osaka and in Paris in 1971. The Galerie Taménaga would become the first Japanese art gallery specialised in the Western masters. In this respect it has in its collection many masterpieces by the Impressionists and the Modern artists like Bonnard, Chagall, Derain, Dufy, Picasso, Redon, Renoir, Utrillo, Van Dongen and so forth. The prosperity of the gallery is intrinsically linked to a family history and transmission. Thus, Kiyotsugu Taménaga joined the gallery in 1990. Like his father, he inherited a great sensitivity and curiosity, and decided equally to devote himself more widely to the discovery of and supporting contemporary artists who are recognised today: Chen Jiang-Hong, Takehiko Sugawara, Kyosuke Tchinaï, Tamihito Yoshikawa, and as well the American Tom Christopher or the Spaniard Lorenzo Fernandez. With an active presence at prestigious international fairs, Galerie Taménaga regularly exhibits the great masters of modern art in its three spaces and actively participates in the discovery of new talents. The gallery is now one of the major defenders of the Asian art scene. In this year 2021, the gallery is pleased to announce the inauguration of a new space located in the traditional city of Kyoto. This opening will also coincide with the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of its Parisian gallery, located on the prestigious Avenue Matignon.
