La Patinoire Royale-Galerie Valérie Bach opened its doors in April 2015 in what used to be the very first roller skating rink in the world. Constructed in 1877 it was classified as a historic monument in 1995. The gallery designed a free program in three axes, structured around the female artist, the monumentality and an assertive tropism towards Belgian art. The editorial choice of the exhibitions is a result of the materialisation of a presiding taste to the choices of the artists. The gallery accompanies the artists through their international positioning with faire participations and a vast network of collectors. In fact, in order to answer to its almost institutional qualification, the gallery chose to present its exhibitions emphasising on movements or modern artistic trends, Belgian or international. The narrative figuration, kinetic art or the Belgian abstraction, in sculpture or paintings, are all perfect illustrations of these artistic movements. The gallery offers on 3000 m² four distinct spaces of various sizes: the big nave, the vitrified gallery, the first floor and the ground floor, allowing exhibitions of different sizes and expressions to take place, simultaneously or distinctly, giving the full measure of its large artistic spectrum in a cultural and educational focus clearly assumed. In this regard, each exhibition becomes a curatorial, followed by a publication and a mediation service for the public.
