Samuel Vanhoegaerden Gallery - Focus on Tom Wesselmann

The Samuel Vanhoegaerden Gallery dedicates this Brafa edition entirely to Tom Wesselmann (1931 - 2004), one of the leading figures of Pop Art. The exhibited collection is the result of years of careful searching and collecting from around the world. Since many works are already in museum collections, especially internationally, this is an exceptional exhibition for our country.
Tom Wesselmann: Steelcuts & other works

His earliest works: collages of American living rooms Tom Wesselmann's first works date from the late 1950s and early 1960s and were primarily collages made from wallpaper and advertisements, sometimes combined with painted nudes in American interiors. These works are extremely rare and are mostly found in museum collections around the world. Two small works of this kind will be shown at Brafa.
