For the 2026 edition of the BRAFA Art Fair, Galerie Segoura Fine Art presents a rigorously curated selection of European paintings dating from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century, chosen for their museum-quality execution, rarity, and the precision of their vision. The stand is conceived as a journey of resonances, in which works from different periods enter into dialogue around themes of light, space, and composition.

This curatorial approach is extended through a dedicated space devoted to Laurent de Commines, whose contemporary works - nourished by architecture and the decorative arts - establish a natural link between present-day creation and the great European decorative tradition.

Laurent de Commines
Laurent de Commines composes interior worlds in which architecture, décor, and light become material for reverie. His works, informed by the history of the decorative arts and the theatrical stage, extend the European decorative tradition through a language that is at once erudite, restrained, and deeply contemporary.

Isidore Pils
A major figure in nineteenth-century French painting, Isidore Pils developed an oeuvre that combines academic rigor with a keen sense of staging. Rare on the market, Bacchanale at Dusk belongs to the refined vein of his idealised mythological compositions. Through its crepuscular light and almost scenographic composition, the painting reveals an intimate and poetic facet of the artist’s work, in close resonance with the formal investigations undertaken at the time of his major decorative commissions for the Opéra Garnier.

Paul Baudry
Paul Baudry’s practice is characterised by a close dialogue between easel painting and decorative work, marked by a strong sense of composition and theatricality. This painting holds a particular status: long kept on the margins, it could not be securely identified due to a concealed signature. Now reattributed to Paul Baudry, it emerges as a true rediscovery, enriching our understanding of his oeuvre and of his practice as an easel painter.
