Harold t'Kint de Roodenbeke - Highlights

Harold t'Kint de Roodenbeke is delighted to present at BRAFA 2024 a traditionally varied and heterogeneous stand, from accessible favorites to the rarest and most sought-after works. A few landmarks and various tributes with fourteen abstract works by Belgian artist Jo Delahaut, a set of five works by Serge Poliakoff, a selection of works by Bram Bogart, and at the head of the stand, a large oil painting in street art mode by Keith Haring in collaboration with his friend LA. Besides, a unique and rare collection of twelve sculptures, wash drawings and watercolors by Rik Wouters, mainly from a Dutch couple in love with our great master and the prestigious Gustave Van Geluwe collection. The bronze "Au Soleil", for example, depicts Nel, the artist's muse and beloved wife, in a romantic pose, leaning back with her head bent, lost in thought. Only six bronzes of this subject are listed by Avermaete in his catalog, two of which belong to public collections. This is one of the masterpieces of the artist and of Belgian sculpture, in a prestigious cast by Petermann, no bronze copy having been offered on the market to our knowledge.

BRAFA Art Fair's Chairman unveils an unmissable 2024 Highlight

Join Harold t' Kint de Roodenbeeke, BRAFA's Chairman and specialist in 20th-century modern art, as he unveils one of the unmissable pieces to be discovered at the upcoming BRAFA Art Fair from 28 January - 4 February.

The painting in question is a rare 1950s mass writing by Judit Reigl (1923 - 2020). The Hungarian artist escaped communism in the late 1940s and emigrated to France, where she developed in the spirit of abstract expressionism. An extraordinary woman with an extraordinarily powerful gestural language, whose work will be on display at Galerie Dina Vierny. With a heterogeneous collection of works from different eras and, thanks to the guest of honour the Paul Delvaux Foundation, a thematic and historical exhibition around this artist, the 2024 edition of BRAFA will be an absolute must-visit to open the artistic season with. Last but not least, the specific, surrealistic setting promises to surprise.

Featured artwork: Judit Reigl (Kapuvár 1923-2020 Marcoussis), Mass Writing, 1958. Oil on canvas, 80 x 114.5 cm. Signed: Reigl and dated lower right: 1958. Provenance: Galerie Kléber, Paris; private collection, Paris; Galerie Dina Vierny, Paris. Exhibition: Paris, Galerie Dina Vierny, Judit Reigl, Panta rhei, 2023, ill. p. 30.
