Focus on Elisabeth De Saedeleer
30/01/2026
Thanks to the Raphaël and Françoise Haeven Fund, the King Baudouin Foundation recently acquired an Art Deco–style carpet created by Elisabeth De Saedeleer (1902–1972). This lecture will explore the life and work of this artist who, inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement, played a key role in the revival of carpet weaving in Belgium during the 1920s and 1930s—through her artistic collaborations and her position as a member of the teaching staff at La Cambre, starting from the school’s opening in 1927.
