ABOUT

The Galerie Claude Bernard was founded in 1957 by its present director and has remained located near the National School of Fine Art in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés to this day. Since opening, the gallery has become famous for its focus on contemporary figurative art, comprising sculpture and painting. Since 1999, it has also exhibited photography, including work by photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Martine Franck and Robert Doisneau. Each year the gallery organizes at least four solo shows devoted to living artists, punctuated by an exhibition of work by world-renowned figures such as Pablo Picasso, Girogio Morandi, and David Hockney, and more recently Zoran Music and Alberto Giacometti. A catalogue is published for each solo show. The gallery also participates in international art fairs.

  • Interview with Goudji at the international BRAFA Art Fair 2019

At the international BRAFA Art Fair 2019 (26 January - 3 February), Galerie Claude Bernard presents a remarkable solo show of the work of the celebrated French sculptor and goldsmith Goudji (1941), who was born in Georgia. His artwork combines dinandery technique with hard stone incrustations in metal. Visitors to the international art fair are able to enjoy around 70 pieces in gold and in silver which have been brought together for this occasion. In this video Goudji shows one of his top pieces, describing the theme and complicated technique. Video produced by Biapal
