Sumptuous work containing 144 plates of flowers, bouquets and fruits, engraved in stipple, printed in colours and retouched with a brush. The plates are preceded by the title, the introductory leaf (2 ff.) and followed by the alphabetical and explanatory table (17 p) published by A. Guillemin. Le choix des plus belles fleurs, published in 36 issues between March 1827 and June 1833, is a selection of the most beautiful original prints by Redouté, French flower painter, and the most accomplished of his last works. A very fine copy with large margins printed on very large wove paper, one of the only listed copies preserved in its full decorated period binding in green morocco
