Berko Fine Paintings invites us to travel in the 19th century
Born into a family of antiques dealers, Patrick Berko has always been passionate about European Academic, Realist and Orientalist painting, the 19th century Romantic School and the Belle Epoque. He and his wife Viviane, also an art specialist, have opened galleries in Knokke-Le Zoute (1976), Paris (1978), Brussels (1983), Antwerp (1984), New York (1987), Tokyo (1989) and Shanghai (2008), but the gallery in Knokke-Le Zoute remains their primary location. Assisted by their children Maximin and Irina, and her husband Count Nicolas de Waziers, they participate regularly in prestigious art fairs in cities such as Brussels, Paris, Maastricht, Palm Beach, Monaco, Moscow, London, New York and Shanghai. The gallery attracts both seasoned collectors and enthusiastic art amateurs. It has published several reference books including ‘The Dictionary of Belgian Painters Born Between 1750 and 1875’, other works devoted to flower and animal painters and numerous monographs. The latest reference book they published was: ‘19th Century European Virtuoso Painters’.
