The Form Of The Mirror

Michelangelo Pistoletto

Guy Pieters was born in the artistic village of Sint-Martens-Latem, the cradle of Flemish expressionism. When he met the French-American artist Arman in 1979, he shifted his focus towards Post-War and contemporary art, and his first gallery opened in 1981. Over the following thirty-five years he set up several other art galleries with his wife Linda. Pieters’ success is mainly due to his lifelong collaboration with artists. Showcasing the masters of New Realism and Pop Art alongside the talents of tomorrow, Guy Pieters Gallery has gained a reputation that extends far beyond Belgium. At his galleries in Knokke, Pieters shows established works of art and organizes magnificent solo exhibitions focusing on renowned artists such as Karel Appel, Arman, César, Christo & Jeanne-Claude, Niki de Saint Phalle, Jim Dine, Jan Fabre, Jean-Michel Folon, Robert Indiana, les Lalanne, Pavlos, James Rosenquist, Mimo Rotella, Julian Schnabel, Keith Sonnier, Jean Tinguely, Jacques Villeglé, Tom Wesselmann and many others. Over the years Pieters has edited many books, including the catalogue raisonné of Yves Klein. The gallery was present at the Biennale in Venice 2017, where Jan Fabre’s works were exhibited at l'Abbazia di San Gregorio. Linda & Guy Pieters are looking forward to the opening of their Foundation in Saint Tropez in May 2018, the crowning achievement of a long career.
