Francis Maere founded Ooidonk Fine Arts in 1995, specializing in 19th and early 20th century painting, drawing and sculpture, with particular focus on Belgian artists and the Sint-Martens-Latem group. Since opening, the gallery has participated regularly in numerous art fairs in Ghent, Brussels, Antwerp, Kortrijk and Amsterdam. In October 2011 Maere opened a new gallery in Ghent on the first floor of Hotel Falligan, an 18th century 'Hôtel de Maître', naming it Francis Maere Fine Arts. The renovated premises have inspired new impulses and directions, and the gallery’s collection has extended to include old master paintings, modern and contemporary art, design, antiques and music.
